Kinesiology and Muscle Testing

My first true understanding of Kinesiology was when I was around 16 when I had a muscle balance for weight training, not to be fixed but for a muscle tune up, and the results were amazing. It was shown, for example my Latissimus Dorsi Muscles were firing at 75% on my right side and 65% on my left, this made sense immediately as I knew my left side would struggle when I was pulling heavy pulldowns. My Pecs were similiar. During the treatment the sides were balanced and then tuned to what felt like the full 100%. The results training were very good, with increased weight on pulldowns and chest flyes I was pulling more repetitions. The machine chest flyes for example went from 2 x 20kg upto 2 x 35kg, which was the equivalent of my body weight at the time!. At the time I wasn't interested in getting huge, although I had noted Kinesiology as a huge asset to any training regime, especially after I found out about my great Grandfather J P Muller (Jorgen Peter Muller), who in the early 1900's was one of the pioneers of health and fitness. He would of loved Kinesiology.

In 2000 when my then partner Claire Moffatt's father Brian Butler retired and left for Australia, leaving the business behind, Claire and I took on the challenge of resurrecting the company. In 2002 I took on the website and desktop publishing. For the first 3 years it was challenging with limited funds, low numbers and an old format. We needed to step it up a gear, I spent a couple of years with co builders to build a new office and clinic and give The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology a new base of operations in Ewell. In 2005 I became a director and from teaching in church halls on mats we started using proper venues with couches for all levels of learning, updated books and professional notes tailored to the student for the Practitioners course. When the classes were regularily full we then started promoting foundation courses around the country for Claire and other tutors. Unfortunately I never got to see my goal achieved for getting Kinesiology into mainstream training, athletics, boxing and really any sport, as Claire and I parted ways in 2016. In that time we had two amazing children Mitzi and Jenson, who I hope learn Kinesiology, and possibly make a career out of it like my step Daughter. Jenson with his PE A level could achieve my goal and combine his great, great Grandfathers work and Kinesiology. I will always be grateful for my first introduction and proud of the opportunity to play a part in getting Kinesiology out there, and of course learning how to write websites and work with SEO was a bonus and is my passion now, and I still help Tutors promote their classes.

I am confident in saying that if every family had a kinesiologist or access to one, we would be a healthier society and the pressure taken of the NHS could be significant.

What is Systematic Kinesiology?

Systematic Kinesiology (S.K.) is a complete form of natural health care that uses muscle testing to read the energetic bio feedback system from our bodies to find where health issues stem from, where imbalances/energy drains are and what particular stresses are affecting you. Those imbalances are then corrected using specialised lymphatic massage, nutrition, electrical balancing and emotional work. Brought to the UK by Brian H. Butler in 1976.

Kinesiology is beneficial for everyone and usually people feel the difference from the first session. We look at people as a whole, not just the parts that are not functioning as well as one would like. Kinesiologists look beyond the symptoms to find the root cause/s, when found and fully addressed, the imbalance is able to clear and we may then prevent the problem from returning.

Although Kinesiology is so effective with addressing current problems one may have, the best time to have a Kinesiology session is when you are feeling 'well'. This is because we are able to detect sub-clinical issues and imbalances before you get symptoms therefore the truly preventative health benefits of Kinesiology are felt with a greater sense of well-being.

Systematic Kinesiology is non-invasive, drug free and enormously empowering.

History of Systematic Kinesiology

Systematic Kinesiology is based on the principle that muscles, organs and glands are connected by a network of energetic channels that are often referred to as meridians.

The theory of muscle testing was first developed by The Kendalls (a husband and wife team) and an orthopaedic surgeon, R.W.Lovett, who was working with polio victims in the 1930's. It was further refined by a chiropractor, Dr. George Goodheart, in the 1960's who added techniques from both Eastern and Western medicine.

Kinesiology, as it stands today, spans the full spectrum of health. The principles are practiced worldwide by doctors, dentists, chiropractors, osteopaths, naturopaths, physiotherapists, nutritionists and educators. It is also used by athletes, performers, school children and businessmen and women.
